Directions to the Event
Why:
Meet staff from neighboring wilderness areas, exchange information, learn new techniques, share your enthusiasm, and work together toward protecting California’s wilderness.

Lodging: “The Lair of the Golder Bear” is a family summer vacation spot in the Stanislaus National Forest owned and operated by the California Alumni Association.
- Attendees will have use of a concessionaire-operated campground located approximately 2 miles away from the event location: Turn right off Hwy 108 onto Camp Blue Road just before Pinecrest. We’ll be camping at the Pioneer Trail Group Campground, Site #1
Directions to the Event - Local hotels are also available for anyone desiring that alternative.
Food: Attendees will have to bring their own lunches, but we are planning a pot luck dinner on the night of the 17th. We’ll have two gas grills available for barbecuing, so bring food to grill!
Agenda: For a tentative schedule of rendezvous events click here.
Discussion items will include such things as:
– Food Storage (what’s up with the Ur Sack?)
– Wilderness Monitoring (How does your neighbor do it?)
– New Wilderness Challenges (Whoa, is that a Segway or a pot farm?)
– Volunteer Programs (What works and what doesn’t?)
– Stock Use (Who sued who when over what? Why does it matter?)
– Fire in Wilderness (For the three square miles of California that haven’t burned this summer…)
– Break Out Sessions (There’s likely a few key people that really care about the same issue as you)
– Wilderness Education (What’s going on with the SWEP? Wait…. what the heck is the SWEP again?)
